Norway

Norway has a thriving barbershop scene and, on our checking, almost no barbering courses you can actually enrol in. BarberCourses.com lists 1 provider here, and that number is the finding, not a gap in the research. Why the list is this shortFrisør is a certified trade in Norway, reached through upper secondary Vg1 and Vg2 programmes followed by an apprenticeship at an approved training company, ending in a fagbrev. Barbering is taught within that, not as a separate qualification. The consequence is that Norway has very little of the private barber-academy market found across the rest of Europe: people enter the trade through school and employment, so there is no commercial gap for short courses to fill. What we removed, and why it is instructiveThree entries came off this page. One was Norway’s main private hairdressing school, a serious institution, approved for student finance and giving credit toward the svennebrev, but it teaches hairdressing and offers no barbering course, so it does not belong in a barbering directory. One turned out to be a creative-workshop provider for children and young people, whose four-hour “barberkurs” has a minimum age of 12 and sits alongside graffiti and VR sessions. And one barbershop academy’s website returns a permission error to every visitor, browser or otherwise, so no course could be confirmed. If you run a Norwegian barbering course, we would genuinely like to hear from you.
