Taiwan
Taiwan has good short barbering courses, none of which leads to the national trade certificate. BarberCourses.com lists 3 providers here, one in Taipei and two in Taichung. The certification gapMen’s hairdressing is a licensed trade in Taiwan, with a national skills certification administered by the Ministry of Labor. Not one of the providers here prepares students for it. The closest is an institute that offers to provide consultation and assistance to students who want to sit the hairdressing technician certificate, help with the process, not a preparation course. If the certificate is your goal, treat these as skills training to be taken alongside a separate certification route.Wildly different price pointsThe spread here is the widest of any market in this directory. Single-day workshops run from 3,600 to 8,000 New Taiwan dollars. A 100-day full-time intensive runs Monday to Friday and includes a placement in a working salon, though its fee is not published. And one complete beginner-to-professional programme is priced at 180,000 dollars with a bundled professional tool set, by a wide margin the most expensive course listed anywhere on this site, and one whose hours are not published, which is worth settling in writing first. Two correctionsTwo providers previously listed in Taipei are actually in Taichung. One entry was removed entirely: it is a working Taipei barbershop whose website offers cutting, colouring and beard trimming as retail services and no courses at all.
