Academy of Hair Design

Academy of Hair Design’s Austin campus is part of a multi-campus group of beauty schools and offers cosmetology, barbering, and a crossover program for licensed cosmetologists. Barber training is delivered under the BeVelle Barber School name and runs 1,000 clock hours, the same length as the campus’s cosmetology program. The Cosmo-Barber crossover is a 300-hour program for students who already hold a cosmetology license and want to add barbering.

The school states that its programs are designed to prepare students for the state licensing exam, which in Texas is administered through the Department of Licensing and Regulation. It also notes that recent regulatory changes reduced the number of hours required for graduation, shortening both the barbering and cosmetology tracks. A student clinic provides salon and barber services to the public, performed by students under supervision.
