ALDEY on Mercedes street in central Montevideo runs a 72-hour professional barbering course, entirely in person and entirely practical. It operates on a .edu.uy domain, which in Uruguay indicates recognised educational status through the education ministry, one of only two Uruguayan providers here with that standing.

The syllabus is organised in four modules: hair fundamentals and basic technique; cutting with scissors, comb and razor; machine work and advanced designs; and beard, moustache and eyebrow work. Named techniques include the fade, skin fade, undercut and pompadour. Entry requires completed primary education only, so it is genuinely open to beginners. Assessment is a written examination with a 70 per cent pass mark plus a practical competency test, and the diploma is issued within 60 days of finishing, signed by a competent authority and carrying a unique registration number.
