American Beauty and Barbering Academy

American Beauty and Barbering Academy, listed with California regulators as American Beauty Academy, is on Main Street in Brawley, in the Imperial Valley. It appears on the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology’s approved school list and files annual program reports with the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education. Its barbering program runs 1,000 clock hours over about 25 weeks, and a 200-hour barber crossover is available to students who already hold a related license.

The academy also offers cosmetology at 1,000 hours, an esthetician program at 600 hours and a manicurist program at 400 hours. All instruction is delivered in residence at the Brawley campus, which is approved for up to 115 students at a time, and classes are taught in English and Spanish. Completion of an approved program is the route to sitting the state board licensing examination. The academy has no current website, so contact it directly.
