Associated Barber College

Associated Barber College of San Diego operates from Fifth Avenue in downtown San Diego and has been under its current ownership since 2002. The school’s stated purpose is to educate men and women in the field of barbering, combining classroom theory with hands-on practice, and its curriculum is intended to prepare graduates to pass the California State Barber examination for an entry-level position in the trade. The barbering program is listed at 1,500 clock hours, the state requirement for barber licensure in California.

Barbering classes begin every five weeks and cosmetology classes every ten weeks, and night classes are available. The college also offers a barber crossover course for licensed cosmetologists and continuing education workshops in areas such as fading, color theory and business marketing. Instructors must have at least three years of professional experience. The school is accredited by NACCAS and approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education.
