Avola College of Hairstyling and Esthetics

Avola College of Hairstyling and Esthetics is located on Dundas Street East in Toronto and is registered as an Ontario career college under the Career Colleges Act. Alongside esthetics and electrolysis, it runs an Advanced Barbering programme with intakes twice a year.

The barbering programme requires 1,500 hours of in-school training, the hour requirement applied to hairstyling training in Ontario. Full-time study takes roughly 10 months, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm; a part-time route runs about 23 months using weekday evening classes and Saturday sessions, which the college offers for students who work. Coursework covers clipper, scissor and fade cutting, shaving and beard grooming, blow drying, colouring and highlighting, iron work, extensions, sanitation standards, professional ethics, equipment maintenance and salon management. Graduates receive a diploma, and tools, uniforms, mannequins and textbooks are supplied.
