Barber College

Barber College is not a school with a campus but a travelling masterclass provider, operating since 2011 and teaching at around twenty hired training locations across the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Its courses are aimed at people already working in hairdressing rather than at beginners, and it issues its own participation certificate.

The single-evening masterclasses run 18:30 to roughly 22:00 and cover specific techniques, fades, the modern mullet, textured crop, beard and shave, technical men’s cutting, buzz cuts, black and mixed hair, and casual long hair, with the fade course priced at 175 euros excluding VAT and taught at fourteen locations. The substantial offering is the Advance Allround Herenkapper opleiding: ten Monday evenings from 19:00 to 22:30 at 1,795 euros excluding VAT, or 1,595 for a second employee from the same salon, covering base cutting, taper and low, mid and high fades, long hair, head shaves and beard work, capped at four to six participants. Entry requires a prior hairdressing qualification and at least a year of salon experience. Salon-based and one-to-one training are also offered.

A note on Dutch credentials, since the labels here are easy to misread. The recognised vocational route is MBO, identified by a crebo number and quality-assured through SBB. CRKBO is a separate register concerned with VAT exemption and training-provider quality. It is not a qualification framework, and a CRKBO-registered academy issues its own diploma, not an MBO one. Both are legitimate; they are simply not the same thing, and the word “erkend” gets used loosely for both.
