Belfast Barbering Academy
Belfast Barbering Academy has operated since 2019 and runs a twelve-week beginners course taught on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5pm to 9pm, a format built for people holding down a job while they train.
Teaching combines fundamental lectures, live demonstrations, hands-on practice on live models and theory assessments, spanning basic cutting techniques through to advanced styling. A separate intensive course is also offered. The deposit for the January intake is 500 pounds; the full course fee is not published, so ask for it before committing.
One point worth flagging, because it sits differently in the UK than elsewhere. The academy claims no City and Guilds or VTCT accreditation anywhere on its site, so the award is its own certificate. In Northern Ireland those are the recognised barbering credentials, and a fully funded NVQ route exists through the public college listed alongside this entry, so weigh the two carefully. A private academy can offer smaller groups and evening scheduling that a college cannot; it simply will not give you the regulated qualification.
