Bladensburg Barber School

Bladensburg Barber School has operated in Bladensburg, Maryland since 1968, about seven miles from Washington, D.C. and accessible by public transportation. Its barbering program requires 1,200 clock hours and can be completed full time in roughly 30 weeks, or part time in about 50 weeks. Admission is open to applicants aged 16 and older who hold a high school diploma or equivalent; those without one may qualify by passing the Wonderlic Scholastic Level Exam. Enrollment is rolling, with new classes starting each month on a first-come basis.

Graduation requires completion of all 1,200 hours with at least 80 percent attendance, a 70 percent academic average, and a passing score on the written final examination. Graduates receive a certificate of completion together with the application materials needed to begin the Maryland State Board of Barbers examination process.
