Blanche Macdonald Centre

Blanche Macdonald Centre is a private post-secondary institution in Vancouver operating three campuses: the Uptown campus on West 12th Avenue, a Downtown campus on Robson Street and an Atelier campus on Homer Street. It holds a designation certificate with the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit and Education Quality Assurance designation through British Columbia’s Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills. Programme areas include makeup artistry, fashion, esthetics, nails, hairstyling and barbering.

Barbering is offered in two forms. Professional Barbering Foundations runs 250 hours, 13 weeks full-time or 20 weeks part-time, with a Tuesday evening and Sunday option alongside a weekday timetable. The 600-hour Professional Barbering programme runs 25 weeks and adds client service, hair colour, business operations and a four-week placement in a partner barbershop. The centre notes that British Columbia has no provincial licensing requirement for barbers.
