Borner's Barber College

Borner’s Barber College operates its main campus on South Western Avenue in Los Angeles, with a second campus in Pasadena. The institution began as American Barber College and was acquired by Arthur and Velma Borner in 1990, relocating to Western Avenue in 1995. After Arthur Borner’s death in 2023, Velma Borner and Joseph Brumfield became co-owners.

The college offers a 1,500-clock-hour barber and stylist program, matching California’s hour requirement for barbering licensure. Instruction covers cutting with clippers, shears and trimmers, hair coloring and chemical services, and sanitation, alongside classroom theory and coursework in finance and business management. Schedules range from 40 hours a week over 38 weeks to 20 hours a week over 75 weeks. The school is accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences and approved by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education and the State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.
