Cinta Aveda Institute

Cinta Aveda Institute offers a Barbering program at its San Francisco campus on Kearny Street, in both 1,000-hour and 1,500-hour versions. The 1,000-hour course runs 37 weeks full time or 55 weeks part time, and the 1,500-hour course runs 56 weeks full time or 84 weeks part time. Day cohorts meet three days a week from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., while a part-time evening cohort meets Monday through Thursday, 5.30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Training covers precision cutting and coloring, clipper cutting, head shaving, razor styling, hot towel shaves, beard and mustache trims and facials, with clinic work on paying guests. Licensure requires passing the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology examination. The institute is accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences and approved to operate by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education, and also offers cosmetology, esthiology and makeup programs.
