Citrus College Cosmetology

Citrus College is a public community college in Glendora, California, and its cosmetology department offers barbering awards in addition to cosmetology. Students may earn an Associate of Science in Barbering or a Barbering Certificate of Achievement, both built on five courses: Introduction to Barbering, Advanced Barbering, Advanced Shaving and Facial Services, Chemical Services, and Business and Licensing Preparation for Barbers, totaling 35.5 units. Each course must be completed with a minimum grade of 75 percent.

The college catalog states that students must accumulate a minimum of 1,000 clocked hours to complete the program and qualify to take the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology examination, and that graduates are prepared to pass that examination and obtain California licensure. The associate degree adds the college’s general education and proficiency requirements.
