Coleg y Cymoedd – Level 3 in Barbering, Aberdare

Coleg y Cymoedd is a public further education college serving Rhondda Cynon Taf and Caerphilly, and it offers barbering at Level 3 as well as Level 2. A location correction worth making: the college is not in Cardiff. Its four campuses are at Aberdare, Nantgarw, Rhondda and Ystrad Mynach. The Nantgarw campus takes a Cardiff postal address, which is the likely source of the confusion, but it sits in Rhondda Cynon Taf. Hair and beauty facilities are confirmed at the Aberdare campus, which is the most likely delivery site.

Level 3 is the progression qualification beyond the Level 2 that most barbers start with, covering more advanced cutting, pattern and design work, and usually some client-management and commercial content. As a Qualifications Wales-regulated FE college, provision here sits within the regulated framework rather than being an in-house certificate. We would rather flag a gap than fill it with assumption: the college’s course-detail pages could not be read during verification, so the specific awarding body, duration, entry requirements and fees are not confirmed here. Contact the Aberdare campus directly to establish them, and to check which campus is running the course in the current cycle.
