Cork Academy of Hairdressing

Cork Academy of Hairdressing operates from 108 Oliver Plunkett Street in Cork city centre, opposite the GPO, with further branches in Dublin, Limerick and Mullingar. Alongside its hairdressing programmes it runs several barbering courses, including an Introduction to Barbering, a Barbering Basic Beginners course taught by night over 14 weeks, and an Advanced Barbering Diploma.

The introductory course covers shampooing, traditional cutting with scissors and thinning scissors, razor work, blending, texturising and finishing natural hairlines, with the city-centre location giving learners access to models for practical work. It is open to learners of all ages and backgrounds. The academy awards its own diplomas and certificates and is a member of the Association of British and International Hairdressing Schools, which acts as its examining body.
