Crumlin College of Further Education (CDETB)

Crumlin College of Further Education, now operating as City of Dublin FET College, Crumlin, is a City of Dublin ETB college on Crumlin Road, Dublin 12. It has delivered hairdressing training for more than fifty years and offers barbering within its full-time Hairdressing programme rather than as a standalone course. The one-year programme leads to the QQI Level 5 Hairdressing award (5M3351), made up of 120 credits.

Modules include Hairdressing Theory and Practice, Hairdressing Science, Creative Styling, Barbering Techniques, Safety and Health at Work, Customer Service and Work Experience, and the college also lists a variant combining ladies’ hairdressing and barbering skills. Entry requires a Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent, with exemptions possible for mature students aged 21 or over. Graduates may progress to a second-year apprentice placement or the National Hairdressing Apprenticeship, which the college also delivers.
