FAME Systems Barber and Hair Training, Stellenbosch

FAME Systems is a training network covering hairdressing, barbering, make-up and nails, now based at Brandwacht Office Park on Trumali Road in Stellenbosch. Its barbering programme is an intensive full-time course of twelve weeks, substantially longer than the one and two-week formats that dominate private barber training in South Africa, and combines theory with practical work under instructor supervision.

The published curriculum spans classic cutting through to contemporary technique, with straight razor shaving and fade work both named specifically. The hairdressing side of the business runs on a different model worth understanding if you are comparing the two: part-time theory days combined with placement in working salons under qualified mentors. On accreditation, FAME Systems publishes no Services SETA, QCTO or DHET registration number anywhere on its site, so the barbering certificate should be treated as an in-house award rather than a national qualification. Fees and intake dates are not published either, and the academy has moved premises since several directory listings were compiled, so confirm the current address and schedule when you enquire.
