Hair Barber Academy – Barbier Master Opleiding, Utrecht
Hair Barber Academy runs its Barbier Master opleiding in Utrecht, a location correction, since older directory data filed it under Amsterdam and the academy has only one site. The course is 15 lessons of two and a half hours, so 37.5 contact hours, priced at 1,775 euros, with an optional package of 24 models at 600 euros and a materials package at 300 euros. Payment can be spread across up to five instalments without surcharge.
This is a master-level course and entry is gated accordingly: you need to have completed the academy’s own Barber Allround or Barber Gevorderd course, or to have at least three years of professional experience as a men’s hairdresser. Content covers the traditional razor clean shave, modern fades, clipper and trimmer work, old-school barbering, cutting and slicing, styling, facial advice, waxing, epilating, face masks and steam treatments. Timetabling is flexible, running Monday to Friday across four slots from 10:00 through to 21:00, with more than one lesson a week permitted. The diploma is awarded after an examination. The wider ladder runs Barber Basis, Barber Gevorderd, Barber Allround and this Masterclass.
A note on Dutch credentials, since the labels here are easy to misread. The recognised vocational route is MBO, identified by a crebo number and quality-assured through SBB. CRKBO is a separate register concerned with VAT exemption and training-provider quality. It is not a qualification framework, and a CRKBO-registered academy issues its own diploma, not an MBO one. Both are legitimate; they are simply not the same thing, and the word “erkend” gets used loosely for both.
