INFOP – Barbero, Tegucigalpa
This is public provision and it is free. INFOP is Honduras’s national vocational training institute, and its Barbero course runs 290 hours in person at the Tegucigalpa central site, at no cost to the student.
Entry requirements are deliberately low: a minimum age of fifteen, a copy of an identity card or birth certificate, and two photographs. That is it. The programme is built from four modules: basic life skills, setting up and equipping a barbershop, cutting and hair care, and planning and running a microenterprise. That last module matters. A free 290-hour course that also teaches you how to start your own business is a genuinely different proposition from a private academy course at several hundred dollars.
The stated objective is competence in men’s cutting and beard grooming, with emphasis on precision cutting and current trends in men’s styling and colouring. Places on free public courses are usually limited and oversubscribed, so contact the delivering unit early about intake dates.
