Irish Barbers Federation – The Barber Academy

The Barber Academy, run in connection with the Irish Barbers Federation, is based at Market Square in Gorey, Co. Wexford, and states its aim as restoring standards of barbering in Ireland through structured training with experienced staff. It runs both full-time and part-time courses, taught in small groups using live models.

Its Diploma in Barbering runs part-time over sixteen weeks, two days a week from 10am to 4pm, or full-time from September to December. It is described as a Level 2 Certificate equivalent to Level 4 on the NFQ, and includes an equipment package and an optional six-week work placement. Shorter options include an Introduction to Barbering for beginners and newly qualified hairdressers, a three-day modern and traditional barbering course, a one-day advanced course, and a twelve-week evening proficiency course for qualified hairdressers.
