Enstitü İstanbul (İSMEK) – Erkek Kuaförü

İSMEK, now delivered as Enstitü İstanbul under the city’s lifelong learning programme, is Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s public training service and the only genuinely public provider in this directory’s Turkish listings. Four relevant programmes run on the official portal: Erkek Kuaförü at 767 hours, classified as employment-focused vocational training; Erkek Saç Kesimi at 96 hours; Erkek Saç Sakal Renklendirme at 80 hours; and Sakal Bıyık Şekillendirme Teknikleri at 48 hours, the last three classified as supporting vocational training.

The main Erkek Kuaförü programme is delivered at two centres, in Esenler and at the beauty and hair care school in Bakırköy. Entry is open from primary school level upwards, ages 18 and over, with admission by preliminary interview. The award is a MEB certificate. A caution on sources: several third-party sites present themselves as İSMEK’s official home and publish course hours that do not match the municipality’s own portal, always enrol through the official İBB channel rather than a lookalike.

One point applies across every Turkish provider in this directory and is worth understanding before you pay for anything. Turkey does regulate this trade: the Mesleki Yeterlilik Kurumu issues the Erkek Berberi Seviye 4 national vocational qualification, and that is the document that carries legal weight. It is a different thing from a MEB Seviye 4 kurs bitirme belgesi, which is a course completion certificate issued by a licensed private training centre. Several academies advertise “Seviye 4” in a way that blurs the two. If your goal is the MYK belge, ask specifically which authorised belgelendirme kuruluşu examines you and when.
