Kangan Institute – Certificate III in Barbering

Kangan Institute is a Victorian public TAFE that delivers SHB30516 Certificate III in Barbering through its Hair, Beauty and Creative department. The program is taught at the Cremorne campus, where students train in purpose-built barbering facilities and work with members of the public in a supervised salon environment.

Coursework covers freehand clipper techniques, traditional and urban haircutting, face and head shaving, beard and moustache styling, head, neck and shoulder massage, and client relationship and retail skills. Delivery combines on-campus practical training with remote online learning. A barbering kit containing scissors, clippers, a mannequin head, styling products and reference materials is supplied as part of the material costs. The qualification is nationally recognised and has been listed as a Free TAFE course, subject to government funding eligibility criteria.
