Khan Friseur Academy – Barber Expert

Khan Friseur Academy in Berlin-Steglitz offers something unusual in this directory: a substantial barbering programme that costs the student nothing. Barber Expert is module seven of an eight-module curriculum, comprising 640 teaching units, and it is funded by the Jobcenter or the Agentur für Arbeit through a Bildungsgutschein.

That funding is possible because the academy is AZAV-certified via Dekra, which is the German public-funding credential and the closest equivalent to Qualiopi in France. If you are unemployed or at risk of unemployment and eligible for a Bildungsgutschein, this is a materially different proposition from the 300 to 800 euro private seminars listed elsewhere in this section. Content covers clipper and blade work, precise contours, soft fade transitions, styling and classical men’s cutting methodology, scheduled flexibly Monday to Friday. One discrepancy worth resolving on enquiry: the module page states four months while the academy’s own homepage lists six months for the same module. Other modules cover salon management, assisting, training, hairdressing specialism, colour, cutting and hair extension. The award is the academy’s own certificate; it does not lead to a Gesellenbrief or Meisterbrief.

A note on German credentials, because the labels mislead. Friseur is a regulated Handwerk trade and running a salon requires a Meisterbrief, but Barbier is not a separate recognised trade and there is no Barbier Ausbildung. So German barbering training is essentially all continuing professional development: private seminars issuing their own certificates, or courses run through a Handwerkskammer-linked or guild-linked academy. Neither route leads to a Gesellenbrief or a Meisterbrief, and a certificate calling you a “Master Barber” confers no legal standing whatsoever.
