Learning Curve Group – NVQ Diploma in Barbering L2

Learning Curve Group’s Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Barbering is delivered in person at one of the group’s hair and beauty academies, with training taking place in a real salon rather than a classroom. The course runs for 26 to 30 weeks and covers health and safety, client consultation, shampooing and conditioning hair, working in the hair industry, and basic cutting including facial hair and styling men’s hair.

As an NVQ, it is weighted towards assessed practical work on clients, which suits people who prefer hands-on training to theory-led study. Entry is open to applicants aged 16 and over who have lived in the UK or EU for the previous three years, depending on immigration status, and candidates attend an interview at an academy before starting. A bursary is available to eligible 16 to 19 year olds. The group’s North East provision includes an academy in Wallsend, Newcastle, which offers barbering alongside hairdressing and beauty.
