Leeds City College – Barbering
Leeds City College offers barbering as an NVQ Diploma at Level 3, taught full-time over 36 weeks at the Printworks campus with a September start. The qualification is mapped to the barbering National Occupational Standards and is recognised by the British Barbering Association as preparation for senior barber roles, so it suits people who already intend to work as an employed or self-employed barber rather than complete newcomers. Students train with professional products in industry-standard salon conditions.
There is no fee for students aged 16 to 18, while an adult fee applies to those aged 19 and over. The college points to progression into commercial barbershops and salons, specialist African hair barbershops, self-employed and mobile work, product manufacturing and training roles, television, film and theatre, and the armed services.
