Limerick College of Further Education

Limerick College of Further Education is a publicly funded further education college on Mulgrave Street, close to Limerick city centre, and now operates as the Mulgrave Street Campus of the College of FET. It runs QQI Level 5 and 6 major awards across a wide range of subject areas, and its School of Beauty and Hair offers a full-time Hairdressing (Barbering and Hairdressing Techniques) course leading to the QQI Level 5 award 5M3351. The programme runs for 38 weeks over one academic year and is fee-free.

Teaching combines classroom theory with practical work, and work experience forms part of the course. Graduates can move into salon employment or progress to the national hairdressing apprenticeship. The college also lists part-time evening provision in barbering, including an Introduction to Barbering and a City & Guilds barbering certificate, with both funded and fee-paying options.
