Lu Ross Academy

Lu Ross Academy is a beauty school on East Thompson Boulevard in Ventura, California, offering programs in cosmetology at 1,250 clock hours, barbering at 1,000 clock hours, aesthetics at 600 hours and manicuring at 600 hours, along with a 200-hour barber crossover course. All programs prepare students for examination by the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology, and the academy appears on that board’s approved school list. Students who do not pass on the first attempt may attend additional board review classes at no extra charge.

Barbering is taught at a secondary facility on South Chestnut Street about two blocks from the main campus, equipped with barber chair stations, classrooms and a shampoo area. Day and evening schedules are available; the full-time day barbering track runs about seven months and the evening track about eleven. The academy is accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences, listed in its 2026 catalog as holding that accreditation on probation status.
