Men’s Ecuador Academy, Quito

Men’s Ecuador is a barbershop group with branches at Shyris, Real Audiencia, Carapungo and Valle de los Chillos in Quito plus one in Ambato, and its academy runs a structured programme of four months or less delivered as sixteen classes with practice on real clients.

The curriculum is broader than most in the region: classic cuts, urban cuts, freestyle and hair design, wave and curl technique, beard design and care, colour theory applied to barbering, and a business block covering digital marketing and personal branding. Named styles taught include American, Italian, military and pompadour alongside fades and texturising.

On credentials there is a genuine distinction worth understanding. The academy issues its own certificate, but it also offers an optional additional certification through the Pichincha artisans’ chamber, a trade-guild credential that carries real weight in Ecuador for artisan qualification purposes, and a meaningful step up from a purely in-house document. No SETEC or education ministry recognition is claimed. Prices are not published, and street addresses for the individual branches are not given on the academy page.
