Minnesota School of Barbering

The Minnesota School of Barbering operates on East Lake Street in Minneapolis and offers a 1,500-hour barber program that the school describes as taking about nine months. Graduates go on to sit for the Minnesota State Board barber examinations. The school also runs a 500-hour Refresher and State Mandate Barbering program, completed in 12 weeks, which is required of students who do not pass the state board examination after graduating from the 1,500-hour program.

Training is hands-on and covers hair cuts and style cuts, perming and coloring, shaving and facials, and flat tops and fades. The Minnesota Office of Higher Education lists the school as a Licensed Career School offering certificate-level barbering and as Title IV eligible; prospective students are directed to the FAFSA for loans and grants.
