Nederlandse Beautyschool – Barbier
Nederlandse Beautyschool runs a barbier course at its Amsterdam site on the Singel, with a second location in Rotterdam. It is a CRKBO-registered private school and the award is a schooldiploma rather than an MBO qualification.
The published syllabus is specific and barbering-focused: cutting and layering with comb and scissors, clipper work covering opscheren, fades and blending, working with thinning shears, beard and moustache trimming, the covered men’s cut, finishing and styling, contour work with the barber razor, a full men’s treatment, and grooming of eyebrows and facial hair. Entry requires existing basic cutting knowledge and experience, so this is a specialisation rather than an entry route. The tool kit costs 99 euros. Be aware that the course duration and the fee are both unpublished. The school states the price is not yet known and directs enquiries to its contact line, so you will need to ask for both. Open evenings are held periodically at the Amsterdam and Rotterdam sites.
A note on Dutch credentials, since the labels here are easy to misread. The recognised vocational route is MBO, identified by a crebo number and quality-assured through SBB. CRKBO is a separate register concerned with VAT exemption and training-provider quality. It is not a qualification framework, and a CRKBO-registered academy issues its own diploma, not an MBO one. Both are legitimate; they are simply not the same thing, and the word “erkend” gets used loosely for both.
