Nevadas First Barber School (NV1)

Nevada’s First Barber School, also known as NV1 Barber School, operates on North Decatur Boulevard in Las Vegas. The Nevada State Barbers’ Health and Sanitation Board includes the school on its published list of recognized barber school locations. The school states it was established in 2008.

All four programs are in barbering. The basic barber course covers 1,500 hours over about 38 weeks and is intended for students with no prior training, matching the hour requirement for Nevada barber licensure. A 250-hour refresher course serves already licensed barbers, a crossover course of roughly 10 weeks is available to licensed cosmetologists, and a 600-hour instructor course must be completed within six months under Nevada law. Training is hands-on and covers cutting, coloring, styling, scalp treatments and facial hair grooming, with students working on members of the public in the school clinic.
