Old Town Barber College

Old Town Barber College is located on East Douglas Avenue in Wichita and appears on the Kansas Board of Barbering’s published list of approved barber colleges. It offers a single certificate barber program of 1,200 clock hours, scheduled over roughly 40 weeks, covering scientific fundamentals, hygiene, shop management and electricity alongside practical work in shaving, facials, haircutting, permanent waving and hair coloring. Students are assisted in completing the paperwork to sit for the state Board of Barbering license examination.

Classes are full-time and run on two shifts, one Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a Saturday morning session, the other from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a Saturday afternoon session; no evening-only option is listed. Training takes place in classrooms and in a full-service clinic area serving clients. The college is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges, and a branch campus operates in Kansas City, Missouri.
