Palmerstown Community School Adult Education

Palmerstown Community School runs an adult education programme of evening classes at Upper Kennelsfort Road, Palmerstown, Dublin 20, covering languages, crafts, fitness and QQI-certified subjects alongside hair and beauty. Barbering is taught at two levels, each ten weeks long with one class a week on Tuesday evenings. Level 1 runs from 6.30pm to 8pm and leads to a certificate of attendance.

The Level 1 syllabus covers basic and modern cutting and styling, blending, graduations, razor and fading techniques and beard styling, along with salon consultation, customer service, health and safety and sales basics. Teaching is practical: participants bring their own model each week, plus their own razor, comb, trimmer, cutting and trimming scissors, gown and water spray. The centre is self-financing, so classes run once minimum numbers are reached.
