Paul Mitchell The School Costa Mesa

Paul Mitchell The School Costa Mesa is on Hyland Avenue in the South Coast Collection area of Costa Mesa, and appears on the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology’s list of approved schools. Its barbering program runs 1,000 clock hours and is structured in three levels: a core phase of theory and mannequin practice covering haircutting, chemical services, shaving, grooming and skin care; an adaptive phase working on live models on a clinic floor modeled on a barbershop; and a creative phase in which students work more independently, build portfolios and prepare for the state board licensing examination.

Both full-time and part-time barbering schedules are offered, with several start dates posted through 2026. The campus also runs cosmetology and esthetics programs, and the school is accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences and participates in federal student aid.
