SamVerly College

SamVerly College is a barber and hairstyling school on Peachtree Street SW in downtown Atlanta, about a block from the Five Points station. It offers a 1,500-hour barber and hairstyling course, an 1,140-hour Barber II course, a 300-hour crossover course for licensed cosmetologists, and a 750-hour instructor course. Full-time, part-time and evening tracks are published: the 1,500-hour course runs roughly nine to twelve months full-time, fifteen to eighteen months part-time, or twenty-four months on an evening schedule, with daytime classes meeting Tuesday through Saturday and evening classes on Thursday and Friday.

The college states that it is licensed and approved for training by the Georgia State Board of Barbers and approved for veterans’ educational benefits, and it offers a graduate placement service. Applicants need a high school diploma or GED to sit for the state board examination, although the school accepts students without one.
