Sensei Institute – Barbering Course, Nakuru
Sensei Institute in Nakuru is the only Kenyan provider here with confirmed national accreditation: it is accredited by TVETA and registered with NITA, which are the two credentials that actually matter in the Kenyan market. Note the accreditation is institutional. A NITA grade test for this specific course was not confirmed, so ask.
The barbering course covers cutting, trimming, styling and shaving including facial hair. Entry requires only a national identity card. Intakes run in the first week of every month, which makes starting straightforward.
One thing to settle before enrolling: two different sets of figures are in circulation. The institute’s own page states three months at 8,000 shillings a month, with a further 8,000 a month for boarders covering food and accommodation. A national news source reports the course as one month at 10,000 shillings for day students or 17,000 for boarders. Those are materially different propositions, so confirm the current duration and fee directly. Boarders supply their own bedding and toiletries. The institute also operates in Kitengela and runs a Nairobi enquiry line.
