SPAI Academy – Corso Qualifica Acconciatori, indirizzo Barber, Rome
SPAI Academy runs a Regione Lazio recognised acconciatore qualification with a dedicated barber track, 1,800 hours, which sits alongside Diadema as one of only two genuinely qualifying routes among the Italian entries here. It teaches from two Rome sites, near Piazza della Radio and in the Tiburtino Nomentano district, and enrolment is currently open for September starts.
Fees are 230 euros a month plus a 150 euro enrolment fee, with classes Monday to Friday either 9:00 to 14:00 or 14:00 to 19:00. Content covers head morphology, clipper cutting, scissors over comb, layering, blade thinning, beard shaving and styling, beard treatments, colour theory, blow-dry styling, the basics of women’s cutting, hygiene and sanitation, technical dermatology and chemistry. A free trial week is offered before you commit, and work placements are arranged through a partner. Two caveats: the school states the duration as 15 months on one page and 17 on another, and while it describes itself as recognised by Regione Lazio it publishes no determina number, worth asking for both.
A note on Italian credentials that matters more here than anywhere else in Europe. Hairdressing is a regulated trade under Law 174/2005, and to work as an acconciatore or barbiere you need a regional qualifica professionale with abilitazione, typically a multi-year regionally accredited course. A private academy’s attestato, however good the teaching, does not confer that right. Foreign awarding-body approvals do not either, whatever the marketing says.
