St-Laurent Académie – Barber School
St-Laurent Academie operates a barbering stream, the Master Barber Program, from premises on rue Sainte-Catherine Est in Montreal. The programme runs 232 hours over roughly twelve weeks and is offered on two timetables: daytime classes Monday to Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., completed in about two months, or evening classes Monday to Wednesday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., completed in about three months. Both are followed by a one-month internship. Coursework covers precision cutting methods attributed to Saco of London, comb-and-scissors work, scissor and clipper cutting, beard styling and straight-razor shaving, with practice on clients.
The academy was founded in 2000 by hairdresser Aldo Furfaro and also runs hairdressing, esthetics and makeup courses. A shorter refresher option is offered to stylists already working in the trade. The programme leads to a school certificate rather than a Quebec ministry diploma.
