State College of Beauty Culture

State College of Beauty Culture is a career school on Grand Avenue in Wausau, Wisconsin. Its Barber Technology program consists of 1,000 clock hours and can be completed in as few as 29 weeks depending on the student’s schedule. Coursework covers classic and contemporary haircutting, styling, wet shaving, beard and facial hair shaping, chemical services, product knowledge and shop business management, with electives in recordkeeping, communications and human relations.

Barbering sits alongside cosmetology, esthiology and nail technology programs at the school. Students train in classrooms and in an on-site salon serving paying clients under the supervision of licensed instructors, and the program prepares graduates to sit for the state board examination.
