The Barber Academy

The Barber Academy is a barbering school in San Jose, California, on West San Carlos Street, with a second location in Gilroy. It is licensed by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education, and its 2024 annual report to that agency lists two programs: Barbering 1A at 1,000 clock hours, intended for students entering with little or no cutting experience, and Barber Crossover 2A at 200 clock hours, for applicants who already hold a California cosmetology license. Both are offered in a hybrid format combining online coursework with in-person instruction.

Coursework pairs technical barbering skills with client-service and professional communication, and the 1,000-hour program leads toward examination and licensure through the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. Instruction reported to the state is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday. The school holds state licensure rather than national accreditation.
