The Barber Paradox – Training Courses
The Barber Paradox is a barbershop on Rennweg in Zürich’s Kreis 1 that runs three tightly specified barbering courses, all priced openly and aimed at trained hairdressers adding barbering to an existing skill set rather than at beginners.
The Beard Trimming and Grooming course is a half day at 350 francs, covering beard theory, proportions and shaping, wet-shaved contours, aftercare and styling. The Classic Wet Shave is a full day at 550 francs, covering straight-razor technique, skin preparation, lathering, the traditional sequence and how to treat cuts. The Fade Haircut is a half day at 450 francs, covering American clipper technique and the high, low, taper and razor fade variations. All prices include the theoretical materials, and the wet shave includes supplies. Dates are arranged on request rather than published to a calendar, so contact the shop to book. No certificate, eduQua certification or federal recognition is claimed. This is focused technical training from working barbers, and is best judged on that basis.
On Swiss credentials: Coiffeur is a regulated trade and the state qualifications are the federal EFZ apprenticeship and, above it, the Eidgenössischer Fachausweis. None of the private barber academies here offers either. The quality mark that does appear is eduQua, the Swiss standard for adult education providers, worth having, but a provider-quality certification rather than a trade qualification.
