The Original Barber School Las Vegas

The Original Barber School is a barber school on South Pecos Road in Las Vegas, and it appears on the Nevada State Barbers’ Health and Sanitation Board’s published list of school locations, one of only six registered Nevada barber schools. Its main offering is a basic barber program described as 200 hours of theory plus 1,300 hours of practical services delivered in a separate student clinic, covering barbering history, general sciences, business skills, cutting, styling, shaving and beard trimming.

Other offerings listed for the school include a barber refresher course, a 600-hour instructor program for barbers who already hold a license, and a 400-hour crossover program for licensed cosmetologists moving into barbering. Graduates use the school’s diploma and graduation letter documenting completed hours when applying to sit the Nevada board’s apprentice examination, which the board requires before licensure.
