The Realest Barber Academy, Utrecht

The Realest Barber Academy teaches from a single classroom in Utrecht. That is worth stating plainly, because the school publishes city-targeted pages for Rotterdam and Amsterdam that give no local address. There is one school, and it is on Strijkviertel in Utrecht, with free parking and a bus stop two minutes away.

Four programmes run, consistently priced. Basis is 10 lessons and 35 study hours over five to ten weeks at 1,300 euros, covering the most-used cutting techniques, fades and trade fundamentals. Gevorderd is 17 lessons and 60 study hours over eight to seventeen weeks at 2,500 euros, covering advanced fades, anatomical cutting and beard styling. Allround is 27 lessons and 95 study hours over thirteen to twenty-seven weeks at 3,500 euros and is the most commonly chosen route. The Realest Fade Course runs four days at 800 euros and is open only to qualified hairdressers. Lessons are three and a half hours, once or twice a week, daytime or evening, and a free intake consultation is offered. One caution: the school describes its diploma as “erkend” but names no accrediting body, no crebo number and no SBB or CRKBO registration, so treat that claim as unsubstantiated and assume the award is its own certificate.

A note on Dutch credentials, since the labels here are easy to misread. The recognised vocational route is MBO, identified by a crebo number and quality-assured through SBB. CRKBO is a separate register concerned with VAT exemption and training-provider quality. It is not a qualification framework, and a CRKBO-registered academy issues its own diploma, not an MBO one. Both are legitimate; they are simply not the same thing, and the word “erkend” gets used loosely for both.
