Thomas Lloyd Barbering Academy

Thomas Lloyd Barbering Academy on Woodville Road in Cardiff is a VTCT approved centre, independently confirmed on the VTCT provider register with barbering NVQs at Levels 2 and 3 plus a Level 3 assessing award. Class sizes run at four to five students.

The flagship is a nine-week full-time VTCT NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Barbering, Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 15:30, structured so that weeks one and two cover shampooing, consultation, cutting on training blocks and hot towel wet shaving; weeks three to eight are live client work covering fading, clipper work, beard trimming and advanced styling; and week nine covers job readiness and social media. A seven-week version of the same NVQ runs for people who are already hairdressers. Demand is real, published intakes show one already sold out and others with only a handful of spaces, so book ahead. Also offered are a one-day fading course and a seven-week non-NVQ course; be aware that the non-NVQ route awards only the academy’s own certificate and is not a regulated qualification, which is an important difference if employers or insurers ask. Fees are not published, with interest-free finance over up to twelve months available.
