Western Barber Institute
Western Barber Institute, operated by Western Beauty Institute, is located on Sherman Way in Reseda, California, in the San Fernando Valley; its former Van Nuys location is closed. The school appears on the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology approved school list and is approved by the state’s Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education. It is not accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education, and its own catalog states that students are therefore not eligible for federal financial aid programs.
Programs include Barbering, a Barbering Crossover course, Cosmetology, Esthetician and Manicuring. The barbering program requires 1,000 clock hours and covers haircutting, styling, coloring, chemical services, shaving, sanitation, bacteriology, anatomy and professional ethics in line with California State Board requirements. Day classes run on weekdays, with an evening schedule Monday through Thursday plus Saturday attendance.
