YPAS – Barbering Course & Training, Kuantan

YPAS runs its barbering programme from Kuantan in Pahang under a career-guarantee scheme, and that guarantee is the distinguishing feature: graduates are guaranteed employment at a partner barbershop chain or supported into self-employment, with starting earnings quoted from 1,500 ringgit a month.

The course runs two months, two weeks of theory classes followed by six weeks of practical training, with a stated split of 70 per cent practical to 30 per cent theory. Eligibility is Malaysian citizenship, aged 18 to 40, and good health.

One point needs stating clearly. Despite YPAS being a skills institution, the certificate for this programme is issued by the partner barbershop chain rather than by the Department of Skills Development, so it is an industry certificate and not an SKM. That is a reasonable trade if the guaranteed job is what you want; it is not the right route if you need the national qualification. Fees are not published on the page.
