ZMS The Academy

ZMS The Academy is a vocational beauty and barbering school on East Cesar E. Chavez Avenue in Los Angeles, California. The school appears on the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology approved school list, is approved by the state’s Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education, and states that it is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education. It participates in federal financial aid for eligible students.

The barbering program requires 1,000 clock hours, California’s minimum for barber licensure, and takes about eight months full time. Hours are divided into roughly 600 hours of hair services, 200 hours of shaving instruction and practice, and 200 hours of health, safety, sanitation and anatomy. The academy also offers cosmetology, esthetician, manicuring and permanent makeup programs, along with crossover courses for licensed professionals. Daytime and evening class schedules are available, and the facility includes a large barbering clinic floor.
